“Make anything” were the instructions given to Kate Hopkins-Searle on her first day of the ceramics course at Loughborough Art College back in the early 80s.

Two roughly sculpted shoes were the result.  This idea was developed and refined for her degree show and in subsequent years working as an artist and supplying pieces to outlets such as Liberty’s in London.  Now after a career in teaching art Kate has returned to creating these highly detailed and decorative ceramic shoes.  The shoes are made in pairs and are hand-built then fired multiple times, using different temperatures for clay, underglaze colours, glazes and lustres.  Kate will be exhibiting from her home in Chipping Norton from 2-6pm, May 13th - 21st as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks.
